Lily's 3 1/2 Birthday

I'm not a huge celebrator of half birthdays but we usually do something small for Lily (like cupcakes from GiGi's) and I always document her favorite things and such. It's fun to look back at how she changes and what stays the same. Soon after this half birthday big changes are coming her way, so we made this one extra special. She requested Poppyseed Chicken for dinner and then we surprised her with her first trip to Melting Pot for dessert.

Height/Weight: Err...horrible at guessing height. She's STILL just shy of 30 lbs. The girl eats, I promise!!!

Clothes: Mostly 3T, but we are occasionally still buying 2T.

Shoe Size: 7- 7 1/2

Favorite Toys: doctor kit, puzzles (she is pretty much a master at puzzles), outside playset, Little Tikes car, princess dress-up clothes

Favorite Activities: Scary Monkey game (aka Temple Run), playing school or church, pretending to be a Rockette and making up songs/dances, driving the buggy at the grocery store

Favorite Movie: Cinderella

Favorite Shows: Doc McStuffins, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Henry Hugglemonster, Sofia the First

Favorite Songs: Pontoon by Little Big Town, Ho Hey by The Lumineers (I sing this to her as I'm leaving her room for naptime), Bless the Lord O My Soul by Matt Redman, Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show, I'm Not Ashamed by Kristian Stanfill

Favorite Chore: Letting Sanibel out of her crate in the mornings, feeding her, and letting her outside. Helping with laundry. She has also become very interested and very good at cleaning her room. She's a neat freak like me--thank you Jesus--and likes everything to be put back just right. Very thankful that she is a) old enough to clean, b) wants to clean, c) meets my standards for cleaning :).

Favorite Food: Fruit Nuggets, PBJ, Annie's Bunnies, colored Goldfish, applesauce pouches, meat...the girl LOVES meat :)

Mommy's Favorite: As usual, I have a few. Lily is a great communicator and she has had very few words that she doesn't say correctly. As she gets older she is beginning to say everything the right way, so I'm really hanging on to those incorrect words and I don't try to fix her speech. A few of them are "mayve" for maybe, "by next"...like "Mommy will you sit by next to me?"..., "moosic" instead of music, "It doesn't care with me" instead of it doesn't matter or I don't care. She also uses words like "perhaps" and "suppose" and it cracks me up. Her imagination blows my mind. I love to hear/watch her play worship or school. I love that she is so curious about all things God. She will sit and "read" her entire Bible in one sitting. And I love to hear her clanking all over the house in my heels, wearing my purse across her shoulder, pushing her stuffed animals in the stroller.

Daddy's Favorite: She calls him "Daddo" from Henry Hugglemonster.

Bedtime Routine: Potty, brush teeth, pjs, Bible story, prayers, snuggles, then we leave her in her room to read 2 books to her friends before she falls asleep.

Biggest Challenge: Bedtime can occasionally be an absolute nightmare. Overall, though, Lily is a well-behaved child. All she requires is enough sleep.

Friends: Logan, Davis, Dusti Jo, and Laney

Make Believe Friends: Sister is still around and still an active part of our family. Thankfully, she doesn't really get Lily in trouble anymore. She's just around for Lily to have a reason to tell a funny story about something Sister did. Dave and Bad Dave are still in the cave with bad bears. She doesn't talk about them unless she's asked. I guess they really messed up.

Funny Moment: One morning at my parents house she put a straw hat upside down on the floor, sat in it, and said "I'm a momma bird sitting in my nest."  I'm sure it's funnier if you were actually there. Spend any amount of time with her and her crazy creativity and you'll be laughing no doubt.

She ate marshmallows and rice krispies dipped in chocolate and ate a few bites of cheesecake simply by picking it up and taking bites...but would you believe me if I told you she preferred to just eat the strawberries without chocolate? Brent doesn't like strawberries, so she ate all of his, all of hers, and most of mine. We can get strawberries for a lot cheaper elsewhere...but this was still more fun!

Soon to be Big Sister, waiting on our table

And her interview...
I can't get the video to embed for some reason, so here's the link

Lily,
We love you more than words can express and our love for you grows deeper with each passing day. We are SO looking forward to you being a big sister. We know that you are going to love love love it because you love to be a servant, helper, and a teacher. You will be great entertainment for Scott and he is absolutely blessed to have you to show him the ropes. As always, our greatest desire/prayer for you is to have a relationship with your Savior. It's clear He is doing a work in your heart, drawing you to Him, and we are thrilled and thankful. Enjoy your last few days as an only child because your world is about to be flipped upside down...in a completely incredible way! We can't believe you are almost FOUR. It just can't be true. We love you!!!

Baby Update #9

This is my last update before Scott is here!!! Can I get an applause for actually keeping up with these updates this pregnancy?

How far along: 38 weeks, measuring 39 weeks

Baby Bump: You better believe it. And that bump has spread to my rear end and thighs. Weird, because I thought a baby grew in my belly? :)

Maternity Clothes: Absolutely.

Total Weight Gain: 28 lbs.

Cravings: Really really really cold milk and ice. Those are separate cravings. Don't you dare give me a glass of milk with ice in it. That's disgusting. I think this hot weather is why I just want something cold in my mouth. And I would really love a cheeseburger from Mugshots before Scott is born, but I don't see that happening.

Food that nearly makes me vomit when I think about it: Anything that may cause indigestion...which is basically everything.

Symptoms: Oh goodness...indigestion, swelling feet, lower ab pressure (he's VERY head down), extreme fatigue, not sleeping AT ALL, and a HORRIBLE, stinging, constant pain in my upper right rib cage that wraps around to my back.

Sleep: Don't even mention this word around me. It doesn't happen.

Movement: Some very strong nudges from his limbs. Not a lot of kicking going on. HE'S OUT OF ROOM!!!

Gender: It's a boy! Scott is his name.

Belly button in or out: Half and half. That's gross to me. I don't know why.

What I miss: SLEEP and getting through the day with enough energy to play with Lily.

Best Moment: I called Brent on my way home from the doc yesterday and told him I was headed to the lab to pick up an orange pee jug. Totally kidding. But his reaction was GREAT. "What? Why? Again? I mean, you are far enough along, why can't they just go ahead and get him out?" If you need a refresher...when I was pregnant with Lily I had to keep all my urine in a huge orange jug for 24 hours three different times. One of those times happened to be before I was on bedrest and I had to keep the orange jug with me at school in the fridge in a hot/cold bag. Gross.

Biggest Challenge: Getting through the day on very little sleep. I am so very blessed that Brent works from home. Although he doesn't actually work at home all day every day, it's nice to have him around when he is home. He is such a selfless husband/father and works his rear end off to provide for us and also keep up with his demanding wife and daughter :). He never ever complains.

Princess for a Day

This sweet girl's life is about to be flipped, turned upside down--name that TV show. Flipped, turned upside down in a completely wonderful way, but still...things around here are going to be forever different come next week. So I wanted to make sure her days before Scott's arrival are pretty special and filled with things that we won't be able to just get out and do once he's here.

A local salon had an event for little girls today. Lily dressed up as her favorite princess (which, by the way, is ALL of the Disney princesses) and she got her hair, make-up, and nails done.

My mom bought her a new princess dress and jewelry and I bought her dress-up heels that she's been asking for. Can't beat $6 for 3 pair of dress-up shoes at Ross, even if a bow came off one of the shoes the second she opened the package. Nothing that a dab of hot glue can't fix.

I laid out her princess wardrobe in her chair at the island so she would see it when she came down for breakfast this morning. I felt like it was Christmas.

Of course she woke up 2 1/2 hours before we had to be anywhere, but that didn't stop her from immediately getting dressed up.

Her favorite part was the earrings. I put them on her and she couldn't stop saying, "I'm putting on earrings! I'm wearing earrings! I have earrings on!"

Then we had a LONG discussion about getting real earrings and she decided that maybe when she turns 4 the pain won't be so bad.

We arrived at the salon for hair first, then make-up, nails, and a cupcake in the princess room.

How old is she?

Y'all, Lily CRIED when she sat in the chair to get her hair done. Tears were rolling down her face and she kept saying, "I wanna hold you. I wanna hold you." I couldn't figure out what was wrong and she couldn't tell me through the sobs. So, I held both of her hands and practically laid my head in her lap while the lady did her hair.

After hair, she got pink eye shadow, blush, and "eye scara".

Then, she chose purple for her nails. After the lady painted Lily's right hand, Lily said she wanted pink for her other hand. She likes to switch things up :). However, the lady said she couldn't do that. Umm, what? Lily insisted, but, again, the lady said she had to do her nails like all the other girls. After the lady said no 3 times and Lily requested pink 4 times, the lady finally gave in reluctantly. I still can't figure out why that was such a big deal. She's 3. I paid you. Just paint her nails whatever color she wants.

Pretty sure she's thinking, "What do you mean you can't paint my fingernails purple AND pink?"

After her nails dried, we went in the hot pink princess room and sat in golden chairs for a cupcake.

When we got in the car to leave I asked Lily why she cried in the chair. She said it was because the cover up the lady put on her covered up her princess dress and she was no longer a princess. Very upsetting I tell you.

Still doing her chores...just like Cinderella

Reading the Bible and telling Daddy that if he goes back to his office to work, he'll miss out on seeing the (made-up) princess lights on the porch.

My princess and me!

The princess took a 3 hour nap today, as all good princesses should. Then we headed to the store to buy ingredients for princess sugar cookies...in complete princess dress up of course.

And now I'm sitting next to the princess who just had a bath, about to decorate sugar cookies...again, completely dressed up like a princess. I wouldn't be surprised if she goes to bed like that :).

I love my girl and we had so much fun today!!! We have one more surprise for her later this week, so stay tuned!

Baby Update #8

How far along: 36 weeks, measuring 37 weeks

Baby Bump: You better believe it. And that bump has spread to my rear end and thighs. Weird, because I thought a baby grew in my belly? :)

Maternity Clothes: Absolutely.

Total Weight Gain: 24 lbs. I'm REALLY starting to pack on the pounds these last few weeks. I blame it on my swollen feet.

Cravings: Really really really cold milk and ice. Those are separate cravings. Don't you dare give me a glass of milk with ice in it. That's disgusting. I think this hot weather is why I just want something cold in my mouth.

Food that nearly makes me vomit when I think about it: Anything that may cause indigestion...which is basically everything.

Best Moment: His room is finally DONE! Minus his name on the wall above the crib.
